The Third Carbon Crisis

June 1st, 2008 by admin-3 · 3 Comments

Fossil fuels may cause a “Carbon Crisis” but this is not for the first time.  In fact, it’s the fourth time.  Let’s look at the first three drastic technological changes that released large quantities of Carbon Dioxide:

The Discovery of Fire:  Using fires to hunt and cook food, man changed the face of Africa.  First man found fires, and used deadfall as fuel.  Soon he was learning how to make forest fires. Environmental stewardship was not an early development.

The Stone Age:  After the discovery of fire man sought to light fires at will and the first stone tools were built.  Man became the dominate predator on our planet.  As man developed the skills to create craft stone weapons and use fires to drive and corner prey, man spread across the Earth.  Now, trees weren’t sequestered carbon, they were fuel and building materials ready for use.  This “Carbon Crisis” caused mass extinctions, as the Global Warming Scam Artists warn of today.  The large predators of Europe, Asia, North and South America and then Pacific Islands and Australia were no competition for stone age man.  The giant cave bears and saber tooth tigers were driven to extinction, as well as the giant tree sloths and giant flightless birds.  Man survived this crisis, but the early hunter-gatherer lifestyle was ripe for change. The Agricultural Age:   One of the first domesticated species was yeast. The yeast natural to grapes was domesticated for wine making.  Yeast was used to ferment grain for beer.  Every time yeast change sugar into a molecule of alcohol, two molecules of carbon dioxide are formed.  Beer and sparkling wines sequester some of the CO2 in the bottle.  Carbon dioxide is released as yeast rises bread, too.  We’ve been emitting CO2 into our atmosphere for millennium.  Earth’s ecology can cope with CO2 and Climate Change will not destroy our planet.

Genau: Bier, Wein und Brot werden auch noch verboten werden wegen dem CO2 … es ist nur eine Frage der Zeit … und dann fangen wir wieder ganz von vorne an als Steinzeitmenschen …
